Angry Birds TV? Like TV Series!

It had been rumored that there would be an Angry Birds movie, and now it looks like there will be a TV or Web series based around the revengeful birds, reports New York Post.

Rovio, the Finnish company which created the mobile app, are planning to produce an animated Angry Birds series for TV or the Web:

"We have been looking at that for quite a while, and that is definitely one of my personal big focus areas right now -- to work on broadcast content for 'Angry Birds,' " Rovio CEO Mikael Hed said.
"It was a completely new area for us; we had to get our bearings there, and a sense of how the whole market was. That was the first part of the exercise, and now that we've done that, the next part is to move into production, and that's where we are right now."

It is not clear if Angry Birds will be a TV series, a web series, or a movie. Since you asked, I'm leaning toward the TV series or film.

Angry Birds comes to theaters in 2015.

Angry Birds Film in Development

Angry Birds, a popular game for the iPhone and iPad that has been downloaded over 6.5 million times, will be crossing over into film and television, according to Variety. Well, you can laugh as loud and long as you want -- but don't underestimate the power of Apps! :)

Rovio, the Finland-based company which created the game, has been making the rounds at Hollywood studios over the past few weeks. The game allows users to control a slingshot to take out a group of pigs who have been stealing the Angry Birds' eggs. The company has already tested out the game's characters in an animated format with a trailer that already has 5.6 million views since it went live in February. You can watch that trailer below:

It was said that Rovio is looking to expand into long-form cartoons on either TV or the silver screen, and the site also reports that they are favoring a claymation format like that used in Aardman Animation projects. The key is to make sure the game is still relevant up until these potential film or TV projects are released. Rovio plans to launch sequels to the game and expand it to Android, Blackberry and Palm in the next few months. They are also considering expansion to the handheld video game market like Nintendo's DS, Sony's PSP and console game systems such as Playstation 3.
